Ein gut ausgeprägtes praktisch_technisches Verständnis stellt im Rahmen vieler Berufe, die für Abgänger aus Schulen für Lernbehinderte in Frage kommen, eine äußerst wichtige Kompetenz dar. Im vorliegenden Artikel wird eine kurze Unterrichtsreihe vorgestellt, die diese Eigenschaft mit Hilfe der Prinzipien des entdeckenden Lernens unter Berücksichtigung der meist relativ geringen intellektuellen Leistungsfähigkeit der Probanden fördern soll. Improvement of practical and technical reasoning with learning handicapped adolescents.

A highly developed capacity for practical and technical reasoning represents an extremely important skill for occupations that are relevant to students who graduate from schools for the learning handicapped. A short curriculum is described that focuses on fostering this trait by using the principles of the discovery teaching method, taking into consideration the relatively low intellectual capacities of the participants. The results of an evaluative study involving 56 adolescents with learning handicapped (experimental-control-group-design) show a general positive effect of this training as well as an increased learning on an individual level.
